Serving a million visitors a year, Georgia World Congress Center is the fourth largest convention center in the United States. The GWCC originally opened with 350,000 square feet of exhibit space, and has seen several expansions since, bringing its total to 3.9 million square feet. In 2008, a tornado ripped through Downtown Atlanta, damaging the convention center. Although the water damage was extensive, the GWCC was able to resume events by mid-April of the same year.
