In 2007, a twenty-year plan was unveiled to revamp Peachtree Street through upgrades and the addition of a streetcar. Margaret Mitchell lived in a boarding house at the corner of 10th Street and Peachtree Street while writing Gone with the Wind, and the infamous main character, Scarlett O’Hara, lived at different spots on Peachtree throughout the novel. In many ways, Peachtree Street is the historic, physical, and emotional center of Atlanta.
