The arena seats 18,371 for basketball games and 21,000 for entertainment events. Phillips Arena implements a distinctive seating arrangement in which the club seats and luxury boxes are located along one side of the court while the general admission seats are located on the other three sides. The arena opened in September of 1999 with a concert performance by Sir Elton John. Phillips Arena is one of the busiest arenas for concerts in the world, and was ranked the third busiest arena in the United States in 2011.
