Piedmont Park
Piedmont Park is a destination for most athletic sports and nature all in one. The park is right in the heart of the city and has courts for baseball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, bocce, as well as soccer fields. There are several trails and paths for jogging or leisurely strolls through the beautiful rolling green fields. For the advent fisherman, Piedmont Park has Lake Clara Meer which carries several species of sought after fish including the large mouth bass, crappie, bream and catfish. The lake is stocked regularly to ensure that there is always game for the sporting fisherman's hook.

Stone Mountain
Another place to consider is Stone Mountain. Stone Mountain has plenty of activities that are fun and exciting. In addition, there is a breathtaking view of the massive granite mountain.

One activity you can do while at Stone Mountain is play golf. Nestled at the foot of the mountain are two championship golf courses- Stonemont and Lakemont.

If golf is not your particular forte, then hiking or biking to the mountain's peak for an overlook of Atlanta and Georgia in all of its glory is another option. Stone Mountain has thirty two hundred acres of natural beauty for you to roam, play, or just take in the scenery with.

The Chattahoochee River
The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is a must for water sports, camping and all things natural. The park spans over forty-eight miles and is split into sixteen individual recreational areas. The river itself is slow flowing mostly, but can become class-two rapids in some areas, providing a decent challenge for those who crave a bit of water rafting excitement.

The river is continuously stocked with twenty-three species of game fish for ideal fresh water fishing.

The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area also includes an area called Bowman's Island. You can horseback ride or hike through its trails. Boating is another attractive activity you can do there.

"Atlanta Rocks!" Indoor Rock Climbing Gym
For a thrill without the outdoors, the Atlanta Rocks! Gym is highly recommended. You can experience rock climbing with safe and comfortable conditions in an indoor, supervised, and air-conditioned environment. The giant warehouse sized building includes all forms of indoor rock climbing from beginners to veteran. Their climbing options provide challenges and fun. Atlanta Rocks! also has classes to teach the sport of rock climbing and their instructors will keep you and your children safe.
